The Panasonic FV-0511VK2 is a three speed residential ventilation fan, allowing airflow to be selected at installation to match the space and duct configuration.

Selectable speed is a practical response to a persistent problem in ventilation design. A fan sized to clear a bathroom quickly after a shower is oversized and unnecessarily noisy for continuous background ventilation, while a fan sized for continuous operation cannot clear a peak moisture load. Multiple speeds allow one unit to serve both duties: a low setting for continuous or timed background ventilation that keeps humidity in check throughout the day, and a higher setting for intermittent use after showering.

Selectable speed also lets the installer compensate for the actual duct run. Where a fan must be installed on a longer or more restricted duct path than ideal, choosing a higher speed setting recovers delivered airflow that would otherwise be lost to static pressure.
