Nidec/Emerson Blower Motor 3/4 HP 1075 RPM 230V

The Nidec/Emerson 5471 is a 3/4 horsepower, 1075 RPM, 208-230 volt PSC direct-drive blower motor for indoor blower service in larger air handlers, furnaces, and fan coil units.

The 208-230 volt winding covers both the nominal 208 volt supply common in commercial buildings and the 230 volt supply typical of residential service. Operating a motor of this rating at the low end of its range increases current draw for the same shaft output, so amp draw should be verified against nameplate after installation on 208 volt systems rather than assumed acceptable.

As a PSC design, the motor depends on a permanently connected run capacitor. Capacitance drift is a progressive failure mode rather than a sudden one, and a capacitor that has lost value will cause a new motor to run hot and trip on thermal overload intermittently, often at the hottest part of the day when the fault is hardest to reproduce.

Speed taps permit separate heating and cooling airflow selection.

Confirm rotation, frame diameter, shaft diameter and length, mounting method, and capacitor rating before ordering. Check that the blower wheel is clean and secure on the shaft, since a dirty wheel both reduces airflow and imposes an unbalanced load that shortens bearing life.
