Description
The Fasco D1126 is a 1/15 horsepower blower motor operating at 1550 RPM on 230 volts.
Motor speed determines airflow for a given wheel, and matching it is not optional.
A blower wheel or fan blade moves air at a rate related to its rotational speed. Fitting a motor of higher speed increases airflow, raises power consumption disproportionately, increases noise, and may overload the motor. Fitting a lower speed motor reduces airflow, which on a heating appliance can cause the limit to cycle and on a refrigeration evaporator can cause the coil to ice.
The relationship is not linear. Airflow rises roughly with speed, power consumption rises roughly with the cube of speed, which is why a modest speed increase produces a large increase in load.
The 230 volt rating identifies the supply, and this must match. A motor rated 115 volts connected to 230 will fail immediately; one rated 230 connected to 115 will not develop its rated output and will run hot under load.
Some motors accept either voltage through internal reconnection, in which case the connection must be verified.
Applications include gas furnaces, air handlers, and HVAC air movement equipment.
