The Mars M10466 is a direct drive blower motor rated 1/5 to 3/4 horsepower at 1075 RPM.

Capacitor selection accompanies any permanent split capacitor motor replacement, and fitting the wrong capacitor is a common cause of early failure.

A PSC motor depends on its run capacitor to establish the phase shift that produces rotation. The capacitance value, stated in microfarads, is specified by the motor and is printed on its nameplate. A capacitor of incorrect value leaves the motor running with reduced torque, drawing higher current, and running hotter, which shortens its life.

The voltage rating must equal or exceed the motor's requirement. A capacitor of higher voltage rating is acceptable; one of lower rating will fail.

Reusing the existing capacitor when replacing a motor is a false economy, since a capacitor that has been in service alongside a failed motor has itself aged, and a weak capacitor may have contributed to the motor's failure in the first place.

Capacitors should be discharged before handling, as they retain charge after power is removed.
