Mars Blower Motor 1/6-1/2 HP 1075R M10463

The Mars M10463 is a direct drive blower motor rated 1/6 to 1/2 horsepower at 1075 RPM.

Multi-horsepower direct drive motors are the standard replacement for permanent split capacitor blower motors in residential furnaces and air handlers.

The multi-horsepower rating is achieved through multiple speed taps. Connecting different leads selects different windings, giving different speeds and correspondingly different horsepower outputs. A single motor therefore covers a range of original equipment ratings.

1075 RPM is the nominal maximum speed, and the lower speeds available through the taps fall below it.

Selecting the correct tap is the installer's task and it is the step most often done by guesswork. The original motor's connection provides the starting point, and recording which leads were connected before removing it is essential.

Verification comes from measuring temperature rise on a heating appliance, which must fall within the range stated on the appliance data plate, and from measuring static pressure and airflow on a cooling system.

Unused speed leads must be individually insulated, since they carry induced voltage.

Applications include residential and light commercial furnaces, air handlers, and fan coil units.
