Nidec/Emerson Blower Motor 1/8-1/3 HP 825 RPM

The Nidec/Emerson 5469 is a PSC blower motor rated 1/8 through 1/3 horsepower at 825 RPM, supplied for direct-drive indoor blower and fan coil applications where lower shaft speed is specified.

The 825 RPM rating identifies this as a six-pole motor rather than the four-pole 1075 RPM design used in most residential blowers. Lower synchronous speed is selected where the blower wheel is comparatively large for the airflow required, or where fan noise must be minimised. Fan noise rises steeply with wheel tip speed, so moving the same air with a larger wheel turning more slowly produces a measurably quieter installation. This is why 825 RPM motors appear in fan coils, console units, and equipment installed in occupied or acoustically sensitive spaces.

An 825 RPM motor must never be substituted for a 1075 RPM motor, or the reverse, without recalculating airflow. The wheel and housing were selected around a specific shaft speed, and changing it changes CFM proportionally.

The multi-horsepower rating means output follows the selected speed tap, allowing one part number to cover several OEM sizes.

Confirm rotation, frame and shaft dimensions, voltage, and run capacitor rating before installation, and verify the resulting airflow at the equipment rather than assuming the tap selection is correct.
