Nidec/Emerson Blower Motor 1/6-1/2 HP 1075 RPM

The Nidec/Emerson 5432 is a multi-horsepower PSC blower motor covering 1/6 through 1/2 horsepower at 1075 RPM, intended as a consolidated replacement for direct-drive indoor blower motors across several equipment sizes.

Multi-horsepower motors are wound so that horsepower output follows the selected speed tap. Selecting a lower tap yields lower horsepower and lower airflow; selecting a higher tap yields more. This is what allows one part number to substitute for several distinct OEM motors, and it is the reason distributors and service contractors stock multi-horsepower units in preference to carrying a separate motor for every fractional size.

The practical requirement is that the installer select the tap that reproduces the original motor's airflow, not the highest available tap. Over-speeding a blower raises static pressure, increases noise, and can carry water off an evaporator coil into the supply duct.

As a PSC design the motor requires a correctly rated run capacitor, which must be matched to the motor rather than reused from the failed unit without verification.

Confirm rotation, frame diameter, shaft diameter and length, mounting method, and available compartment depth. Multi-horsepower motors are frequently slightly longer than the single-rated motors they replace.
