Nidec/Emerson Blower Motor 1/4 HP 1075 RPM 230V

The Nidec/Emerson 1971 is a 1/4 horsepower, 1075 RPM, 230 volt PSC direct-drive blower motor for indoor air handler and furnace blower assemblies.

The 230 volt rating distinguishes this motor from its 115 volt equivalent, and the two are not interchangeable. Supply voltage must be confirmed at the equipment rather than assumed from the building service, because air handlers and furnaces are commonly supplied at either voltage depending on the equipment series and the original installation.

As a PSC design, the motor requires an external run capacitor sized to the manufacturer's specification. Substituting a capacitor of different microfarad value changes the phase relationship in the auxiliary winding, which alters torque and current draw and shortens winding life even when the motor appears to run normally.

The 1/4 horsepower output is appropriate for smaller residential blowers and fan coil units. Multiple speed taps are provided so heating and cooling airflow can be set independently at installation.

Confirm shaft diameter and length, rotation as viewed from the shaft end, frame diameter, and mounting arrangement before ordering. Most direct-drive blower motors of this class mount by belly band into a bracket, and band position affects how far the shaft protrudes into the blower wheel hub.
