Nidec/Emerson Blower Motor 1/2 HP 1075 RPM 115V

The Nidec/Emerson EL3587 is a 1/2 horsepower, 1075 RPM, 115 volt PSC blower motor for direct-drive indoor blower assemblies in furnaces, air handlers, and fan coil units.

At 1/2 horsepower on a 115 volt supply, this motor draws meaningful current, and full load amps should be checked against the equipment's blower circuit rating during replacement. Where the original motor was a smaller size, the existing wiring and overcurrent protection may not be adequate for an upsized replacement.

Permanent split capacitor design gives quiet operation and good running efficiency but low starting torque, so the blower wheel must turn freely by hand before power is applied. Resistance indicates a bearing problem, a wheel rubbing the housing, or a wheel that has shifted on the shaft.

Multiple speed taps allow separate heating and cooling airflow selection, and the required run capacitor must be permanently connected and correctly rated.

Match horsepower, RPM, voltage, rotation, frame diameter, shaft diameter and length, and mounting arrangement to the failed motor. Position the belly band so the wheel sits centrally in the housing inlet ring; a wheel that is offset relative to the inlet loses airflow and generates noise even when everything else is correct.
