Nidec/Emerson Blower Motor 1 HP 1075 RPM 1 8906

The Nidec/Emerson 8906 is a 1 horsepower, 1075 RPM PSC direct-drive blower motor for larger residential and light commercial indoor blower assemblies.

One horsepower is the upper end of the direct-drive PSC blower range, specified for five ton and larger air handlers, large multi-stage furnaces, and light commercial packaged equipment where required airflow approaches or exceeds 2,000 CFM. At this size, correct electrical supply matters: verify branch circuit ampacity, overcurrent protection, and conductor size against the motor nameplate rather than relying on what served the previous unit.

The motor requires a permanently connected run capacitor sized to specification. Capacitor microfarad requirements scale with motor size, so a capacitor carried for smaller blower motors will not be suitable.

Multiple speed taps permit independent heating and cooling airflow configuration.

Confirm horsepower, RPM, voltage, rotation, frame diameter, shaft diameter and length, and mounting arrangement before ordering, and check available depth in the blower compartment. After installation, measure running amps and compare against nameplate. A larger blower motor moving air through an undersized duct system will draw high current and run at elevated winding temperature, which is the most common cause of repeat failure in this size class.
