The Microflex MFXMK-296-M is a MidKnight powder free nitrile exam glove, medium, black, fully textured, 100 gloves per box, 10 boxes per case.

Powder free is the specification and the history behind it is worth knowing, because it explains why powdered gloves have essentially disappeared.

Powder — cornstarch — was a donning aid. Gloves are difficult to pull onto a slightly damp hand, and powder solved that. What it also did was become airborne every time a box was opened or a glove was snapped off, carrying whatever it had been in contact with into the room and onto surfaces. In latex gloves it carried allergenic protein. In any glove it carried contamination, and it settled on wounds, instruments, and work.

Powder free gloves are made with a different inner surface treatment instead. They are marginally harder to don with wet hands, and that is the entire cost.

Nitrile is the material: no latex allergy, and resistance to oils, fuels, and many solvents that would degrade latex on contact.

Black masks stains and — more usefully — makes a tear instantly visible against skin. The cost is that it also hides contamination, which is why food service tends toward blue.

Fully textured means texture across the whole glove, displacing liquid film to maintain grip when wet.

Applications include automotive, industrial, and laboratory work.
