At X-Large the sizing point that governs all insulated gloves becomes worth stating plainly, because it runs opposite to intuition.

Insulation works by trapping air. A glove that fits snugly compresses the lining against the hand and squeezes that air out — and a compressed insulated glove is a cold glove. Worse, a tight glove restricts blood flow, and restricted circulation in cold conditions is the actual mechanism by which fingers get cold and stay cold. The hand's own blood supply is doing more warming than any lining.

So an insulated glove should fit slightly loose. Someone who wears a large in an unlined mechanic's glove may well want an X-Large here, and ordering by their usual number produces a glove that underperforms for reasons they will never diagnose.
