The MCR Safety MCR4840KL is a pair of Red Ram welding gloves, large, leather, white, Kevlar lined, ANSI contact heat level 2 — less than 284°F, leather cuff, gauntlet style, standard fingers, full leather back.

The Kevlar lining is the specification worth understanding, and it is doing two jobs. Kevlar is an aramid fibre: it does not melt and it does not burn, which is the first requirement for anything inside a welding glove. A conventional lining that melts would be a hazard, not a lining.

The second job is the seams. Welding gloves are sewn with Kevlar thread for the same reason — a cotton or polyester thread burns through and the glove comes apart at the seam while the leather is still perfectly good. Anyone who has had a glove fail at the thumb seam mid-weld knows why.

The gauntlet cuff is the other essential feature. A short cuff leaves the wrist and forearm exposed to spatter and radiant heat, and the wrist is where sparks land when the hands are raised.

Note the ANSI contact heat rating: level 2, stated as less than 284°F. That is a moderate figure and worth reading honestly — it describes resistance to contact with a hot surface, not to the arc. Gloves for prolonged handling of hot work need a higher rating.
