Jackson Safety JKS15134 Welding Helmet HSL100 Passive Black Hsl 10

The Jackson Safety JKS15134 is an HSL100 passive welding helmet, black, with an HSL (Shadow) shell, 5-1/4 x 4-1/2 inch filter and viewing area, shade 10.

Note the window dimensions against the other HSL100 helmets in this catalog: they are stated as 4-1/2 x 5-1/4 while this reads 5-1/4 x 4-1/2. That is the same window with the dimensions transposed rather than a different product — worth being aware of when comparing listings, and worth correcting at source.

The HSL shell is Jackson's narrow design, built for confined spaces. It is slimmer than a conventional hood, which is what gets a welder into a vessel, between beams, or inside a rack where a standard helmet stops them. The cost is reduced spark coverage at the sides, making it a specialisation rather than an upgrade.

The window is what makes the HSL100 worth the money. A full-size viewing area on a narrow shell is an unusual combination — the narrow-shell alternatives in this range use a 4-1/4 x 2 inch letterbox that shows the puddle and little else. The HSL100 gives confined-space access without giving up sight of the joint.

Passive means a fixed shade 10 filter: no battery, nothing to fail.

Applications include confined space welding, vessel and tank work, and shipyards.
