Jackson Safety JKS14976 Welding Helmet HSL100 Passive Blue Hsl 10

The Jackson Safety JKS14976 is an HSL100 passive welding helmet, blue, with an HSL (Shadow) shell, 4-1/2 x 5-1/4 inch filter and viewing area, shade 10.

Blue is the colour distinguishing this from the black HSL100s in the range, and helmet colour is worth more than a shrug in a working shop. Welding helmets get put down, and they get picked up by whoever is nearest. A shop where every hood is black loses track of whose is whose within a week — which matters because headgear is adjusted to an individual head, and a helmet that has been resized by someone else has to be reset before it is usable. Colour is how crews keep their own equipment.

Some operations also use colour to separate helmets by shade, by department, or by qualification.

The HSL shell is Jackson's narrow design, built for confined spaces. A slimmer shell gets a welder into vessels, between beams, and inside racks where a conventional hood will not go. The trade is less spark coverage at the sides.

The 4-1/2 x 5-1/4 inch window is a full-size viewing area on a narrow shell — the combination that defines the HSL100.
