Master Lock MLSA1107KA-YLW Anodized Aluminum Safety Padlock Keyed Alike Yellow

The Master Lock MLSA1107KA-YLW is an anodized aluminum safety padlock, keyed alike, 3 inch shackle height, aluminium, yellow.

Keyed alike on a safety padlock deserves careful explanation, because at first glance it contradicts everything lockout requires.

Lockout padlocks must normally be keyed different — one lock, one key, one worker, no master — because the entire protection is that nobody but the person inside the machine can release it. A keyed alike set would let one worker's key open another's lock, which defeats the procedure.

Where keyed alike is correct is the single worker with multiple locks. A technician isolating a machine with several energy sources — electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic — applies a lock to each, and they are that worker's locks. One key for all of them is a convenience with no safety cost, because the key belongs to one person. That is what a keyed alike safety padlock set is for, and it must be issued as a set to an individual rather than distributed across a crew.

Getting that wrong is a serious procedural failure.

Anodized aluminium is light, corrosion resistant, and non-sparking. The anodizing carries the colour permanently rather than as paint that chips off.

The 3 inch shackle reaches through substantial isolation hardware.

Applications include lockout/tagout across electrical, mechanical, and process isolation.
