A portable eyewash exists for a specific and common situation: a hazard in a location with no plumbing. Emergency eyewash requirements do not pause because a work area is temporary, remote, or outdoors — a construction site, a remote pump station, a mobile maintenance operation, or a battery room in a building without a nearby drain all present chemical hazards and no water supply. A gravity-fed portable unit puts compliant eyewash where the hazard is.

Gravity fed means the unit needs no plumbing, no power, and no pressurisation. Water flows from the tank under its own head when the unit is activated, which is one fewer thing to fail at the moment it matters.

The bacteriostatic additive is not optional and it is the specification most often overlooked. Standing water in a tank grows bacteria, and an eyewash contaminated with bacteria flushed into an already-injured eye turns a chemical exposure into an infection. The additive inhibits that growth between the scheduled water changes.
