Guardian Equipment GARG1540BA-R Guardian Aquasep Bacteriostatic Additive

The Guardian Equipment GARG1540BA-R is an Aquasep bacteriostatic additive replacement bottle, 8 oz, priced per each but sold only in case quantities of 4.

This is a maintenance consumable for portable gravity-fed eyewash units, and it is the part of the system most likely to be forgotten — which is exactly why it deserves to be understood.

A portable eyewash holds water in a tank for weeks or months waiting for an emergency that may never come. That standing water is a hospitable environment for bacterial growth. The consequence is genuinely serious: the whole purpose of an eyewash is to flush a contaminant out of an injured eye, and an eye that has just been chemically burned has a compromised surface. Flushing it with bacterially contaminated water introduces an infection into the worst possible tissue at the worst possible moment. There are documented cases of exactly this.

The bacteriostatic additive inhibits that growth between scheduled water changes. It is a component of the eyewash's function, not an accessory to it.

Because it is consumed on a schedule, it should be ordered on a schedule. An eyewash unit sitting past its additive change is not a compliant eyewash — it is a tank of water.

Note the ordering configuration: priced per each but sold only in case quantities of 4.

Applications include portable gravity-fed eyewash stations on construction sites, remote locations, battery rooms, laboratories, and mobile maintenance operations.

Follow the manufacturer's specified change interval.
