The Master Lock MLS3 is a non-re-keyable padlock with dual bumpers, 1-9/16 inch, steel, silver, keyed differently, 9/32 inch shackle diameter, 3/4 inch shackle clearance.

Keyed differently is the specification and it is the one that decides whether this lock suits the job. Every lock in a keyed-differently batch has its own unique key. That is what you want when locks go to different people, different sites, or different purposes — one lost key compromises one lock.

It is exactly what you do not want when one person needs to open twenty locks, which is what keyed alike is for. Ordering the wrong one produces either a keyring the size of a fist or a security arrangement that is not one.

The 3/4 inch shackle clearance is the number that determines whether the lock physically fits. Clearance is the opening between the shackle and the body — it has to pass through whatever it is securing.
