Mars Azure Blower Motor 1/2-1 HP 1 M10861

The Mars Azure M10861 is a 1/2 to 1 horsepower constant-torque ECM blower motor for indoor air handler, furnace, and fan coil applications, sold as a field replacement where the original blower motor has failed or a PSC-to-ECM efficiency upgrade is being performed.

Constant-torque control means the motor holds a commanded torque and allows speed to vary with system static pressure. This differs from constant-airflow ECM control, which continuously adjusts to hold a target CFM. Constant-torque behaviour is the closer match to a PSC motor's response curve, which is precisely why it is the preferred replacement type when converting existing equipment: the airflow characteristic the original system was commissioned around is broadly preserved.

The onboard electronics require correct low-voltage tap selection at installation. Taps are assigned to the thermostat and control board outputs for heating, cooling, and continuous fan, and each is programmed to the airflow the original motor delivered on the corresponding speed.

Before fitting, verify shaft diameter and length, rotation direction, frame diameter, and available depth in the blower compartment. ECM motors are physically longer than many PSC motors of equivalent output, and clearance in the housing should be checked rather than assumed.
