Description
The Mars Azure M10857 is a constant-torque ECM blower motor rated 1/2 to 1 horsepower, supplied as a programmable replacement for PSC and OEM variable-speed indoor blower motors in furnaces, air handlers, and fan coils.
Constant-torque ECM motors use a brushless DC design with integrated electronics rather than the split-phase induction design of a PSC motor. The practical consequence is efficiency: an ECM indoor blower typically draws substantially less power than the PSC motor it replaces at the same airflow, and that saving accrues across the whole heating and cooling season because the indoor blower is the longest-running motor in the system.
The 1/2 to 1 HP range makes a single part number serviceable across a wide band of residential and light commercial equipment, which is the reason universal ECM replacements are stocked in preference to matched OEM motors. Speed taps are programmed at installation to match the original motor's airflow rather than selected mechanically.
Confirm frame size, shaft diameter and length, rotation, and mounting method before ordering, and verify the existing blower wheel is clean and correctly positioned in the housing. Installing a high-efficiency motor behind a restricted duct system will not deliver the expected airflow and will shorten motor life.
