Description
The Loctite LOC234263 is a copper based anti-seize lubricant suspending copper and graphite in a high quality grease, preventing rust, 8 oz brush top.
This is the 8 oz size of the copper grade — the bench or service-van quantity against the 1 lb can in the same range.
Copper is the whole specification, for what it does and where it must not go. Copper particles suspended in grease keep thread flanks from cold-welding to each other under torque, which is what galling is. Copper carries very high temperature capability, which is why copper anti-seize lives on exhaust manifolds, brake hardware, and hot flanges. The graphite keeps lubricating after the carrier grease has burned off — which it will, at those temperatures.
Where it must not go: stainless steel, under many specifications. Copper contact with stainless is prohibited in nuclear, certain process, and marine work, and copper contamination is a genuine metallurgical concern rather than paperwork. Nickel grade is the anti-seize for those assemblies.
The point that belongs on every anti-seize and is almost never made: it lubricates, and lubricated threads reach a given tension at far lower torque than dry ones. Torquing to the dry specification over-tensions the fastener and it can snap. Use the lubricated figure.
The brush top puts it on the threads rather than everywhere else.
Applications include exhaust systems, brake hardware, and high-temperature flanges.
