Loctite LOC135543 Anti Seize Lubricant

The Loctite LOC135543 is a Loctite 771 Nickel Grade anti-seize, 1 lb net weight, brush top.

Nickel grade is the specification and it exists for a specific and important reason: it contains no copper.

That matters because copper is a problem in two places. First, copper anti-seize on stainless steel introduces copper into a stainless assembly, and many specifications — nuclear, certain process, and marine work among them — prohibit copper contact with stainless outright. Second, in high-temperature service the copper in a general anti-seize reaches its limit before nickel does.

Nickel grade addresses both. It carries higher temperature capability than copper or aluminium grades, and it is the correct choice where copper is prohibited or where the assembly is stainless and staying hot.

What anti-seize does is prevent galling — the cold welding of thread flanks under torque, which is what makes stainless fasteners seize and shear rather than unscrew. The suspended metal particles keep the flanks apart.

The point that belongs on every anti-seize: it is a lubricant, and lubricated threads reach a given tension at far lower torque than dry ones. Torquing to the dry specification over-tensions the fastener and can snap it. Use the lubricated figure.

The brush top ensures it is applied to the threads rather than smeared.

Applications include stainless assemblies, high-temperature service, and process piping.
