The Justrite JUS7150110 is a Type I steel safety can for flammables with funnel 11202Y, 5 gallon, stainless steel flame arrester, self-closing lid, in red.

The funnel is the difference from the plain Type I can, and it addresses the limitation Type I has by design. A Type I can pours through the same opening it fills through, which makes it simple and robust — but pouring five gallons of fuel accurately into a small filler neck through a wide spout is how spills happen. A funnel fitted to the spout controls the stream.

That matters more than convenience. Spilled fuel is a fire hazard, a slip hazard, and an environmental problem, and it evaporates into exactly the vapour the rest of this can's design exists to control.

The alternative approach is a Type II can, which has a separate fill opening and a flexible hose spout. Which suits depends on what is being filled — a hose reaches into awkward fillers, a funnel handles open ones.

The flame arrester is the critical safety component: a mesh screen that conducts heat away from an approaching flame faster than it can propagate, so the flame dies at the spout rather than reaching the vapour inside. Never remove it.

The self-closing lid closes automatically and vents at low pressure rather than rupturing in a fire.
