Jackson Safety JKS46131 Welding Helmet Insight ADF Black Hlx Halo-x/Hlx 4/9-13

The Jackson Safety JKS46131 is an Insight welding helmet, ADF type, black, with an HLX (Halo X) shell, 4-1/2 x 5-1/4 inch filter, a 3.8 x 2.35 inch viewing area, shade range 4/9-13, and a lithium battery rated 485 to 823 hours.

The HLX Halo X shell is the difference from the HSL version of this helmet, and shell choice is the decision worth making carefully. HSL is Jackson's narrow shell, built slim for confined spaces — it gets a welder into a vessel or between beams where a conventional hood stops them, at the cost of reduced coverage at the sides. HLX is a conventional-profile shell, which trades that access for fuller spark and spatter coverage.

For open bench work, structural fabrication, and general shop welding — which is most welding — the fuller shell is the better protection. The narrow shell is a specialisation.

The ADF itself is identical: shade 4 light state, variable 9 to 13 dark. The light state is what lets a welder see the joint, position the electrode, and strike without ever nodding the hood, which is why ADFs displaced passive helmets for most production work.

Note that filter dimensions and viewing area differ: the cartridge is 4-1/2 x 5-1/4 inch, the window 3.8 x 2.35 inch.

Battery life varies with duty cycle.
