Jackson Safety JKS46129 Welding Helmet Insight ADF Black Hsl 4 1/2 x 5 1/4 Inch

The Jackson Safety JKS46129 is an Insight welding helmet, ADF type, black, with an HSL (Shadow) shell, 4-1/2 x 5-1/4 inch filter, a 3.8 x 2.35 inch viewing area, shade range 4/9-13, and a lithium battery rated 485 to 823 hours.

This pairs an auto-darkening filter with Jackson's narrow HSL shell, and that combination is aimed squarely at confined space work.

The reason is worth spelling out. A welder inside a vessel or between structural members already has the hardest job in the shop. A passive hood makes it harder: every weld requires positioning the electrode blind, then nodding the hood down without moving. An ADF removes that entirely — the welder sees the joint through a shade 4 light state, strikes, and the filter darkens in milliseconds. In a position where nodding a hood is awkward or impossible, that is transformative.

The shade range 4/9-13 reads as shade 4 light, variable 9 to 13 dark, covering light TIG through high-amperage stick and gouging.

Note the difference between filter dimensions and viewing area: the cartridge is 4-1/2 x 5-1/4 inch, but the window you see through is 3.8 x 2.35 inch. The frame takes the rest.

The lithium battery's 485 to 823 hour range reflects duty cycle.
