The Jackson Safety JKS36308 is a Wilson welding blanket, 6 ft x 8 ft, 0.034 inch thick, in fiberglass with an acrylic coating, yellow.

This is the heaviest and largest blanket in this group — 0.034 inch fabric at 6 x 8 ft — which makes it the general-purpose choice for a shop that wants one blanket to cover most situations.

Weight buys service life. A blanket taking direct spatter and slag has a finite life, and heavier fabric has more of it. The extra two feet over a 6 x 6 gives reach and, more importantly, margin: a blanket exactly the size of what it protects has no overlap to secure at the edges, and sparks find the gap.

The acrylic coating adds spark resistance and binds the fabric so it sheds less loose fibre — bare fiberglass is genuinely unpleasant on skin. The trade is temperature: the coating has a lower limit than the fiberglass beneath it, so the very hottest work belongs to uncoated blankets where the coating would become the weak link. For most welding, cutting, and grinding, coated is the better tool.

Yellow is high-visibility, which matters more than it sounds — a blanket that is seen is one that gets used and gets retrieved.
