DiversiTech Wire Terminal Spade 16-14 Insulated. #10 Stud

The DiversiTech 6228LX is an insulated spade terminal for 16 to 14 gauge conductors, sized for a #10 stud.

A spade terminal is an open ended terminal that slides under a loosened screw head, differing from a ring in that the screw does not need to be removed to land or lift the conductor. Compared with a narrow fork, a spade presents a broader contact area beneath the screw head, which improves the mechanical and electrical quality of the joint while preserving the service access advantage of an open terminal.

The trade-off is the same as with any open terminal: retention depends on the screw remaining tight. Spade terminals should not be used for equipment grounding conductors or for connections where an unnoticed release would create a hazard. Ring terminals are the correct choice there.

The #10 stud size is among the most common in HVAC equipment, appearing at terminal boards, component landings, and equipment interface points.

The insulating sleeve covers the crimp barrel and a portion of the conductor jacket, guarding against incidental contact in a crowded cabinet and providing limited strain relief at the crimp. Blue identifies the 16-14 gauge range under the standard colour convention.

Applications include terminal board and control panel landings, equipment interface wiring, component connections, and general HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical installation work. Use a ratcheting crimp tool with the correct insulated die and verify each crimp with a pull test.
