DiversiTech Wire Terminal Spade 12-10 Insulated. #10 Stud

The DiversiTech 6255LX is an insulated spade terminal for 12 to 10 gauge conductors, sized for a #10 stud.

A spade terminal slides under a loosened screw head rather than requiring the screw to be removed, which is the practical advantage over a ring terminal when landing or lifting conductors in a crowded panel. Compared with a narrow fork, the spade offers a wider bearing surface beneath the screw head, giving a better mechanical and electrical joint on the heavier conductor sizes where contact area matters more.

The limitation is retention. Any open terminal can release if the screw backs off, so spade terminals must not be used for equipment grounding conductors, and should be avoided where an unnoticed disconnection would create a hazard. Ring terminals are correct in those positions.

The 12-10 gauge range covers equipment power wiring, motor and compressor leads, heater circuits, and disconnect terminations. Yellow identifies this range under the standard colour convention.

The insulating sleeve covers the crimp barrel and part of the conductor jacket, guarding against incidental contact and providing limited strain relief.

At these conductor sizes a crimp tool with substantial mechanical advantage is required to achieve full barrel compression. Verify every crimp with a pull test.

Applications include terminal board and disconnect landings, equipment power connections, motor terminations, and general HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical installation work.
