DiversiTech Wire Terminal Slip-On F 16-14 Insulated. .250

The DiversiTech 6218LX is an insulated slip-on female quick disconnect terminal for 16 to 14 gauge conductors, sized for a .250 inch tab.

The .250 inch tab is the most widely used quick disconnect size in HVAC and refrigeration equipment, appearing at contactor coils and line terminals, run capacitor studs, transformer taps, limit and pressure switches, and blower motor leads. Specifying the tab width explicitly matters because the alternative .187 inch size is visually similar. A female terminal fitted to a tab it was not sized for makes loose contact, and a loose connection carrying current generates heat that anneals the terminal's spring temper, reduces contact pressure further, and drives the joint toward failure. Discoloured, melted, and welded terminals at contactors and capacitors are commonly traced to exactly this mismatch.

The insulating sleeve covers the crimp barrel and part of the conductor jacket, reducing the risk of an inadvertent short in a crowded cabinet and providing limited strain relief at the crimp. Blue identifies the 16-14 gauge range under the standard colour convention.

Crimp quality governs long term reliability as much as tab fit does. Use a ratcheting or compound leverage crimp tool with the correct insulated die, and confirm each connection with a pull test.
