Description
The DiversiTech 6229LX is a fully insulated slip-on female quick disconnect terminal for 16 to 14 gauge conductors.
Full insulation is the distinguishing feature. A standard insulated disconnect sleeves only the crimp barrel, leaving the contact section of the terminal exposed; a fully insulated terminal extends the sleeve forward to shroud the receptacle body as well. Once mated, essentially no live metal is accessible. In densely packed equipment cabinets where terminals sit adjacent to grounded sheet metal and to each other, and where a technician's hands and tools work in confined space around energised components, that additional coverage is a meaningful safety improvement.
The shroud also reduces the chance of a dropped screw, a shifted conductor, or a probe tip bridging from an energised terminal to an adjacent one, which is a recurring cause of nuisance faults and blown control transformers.
Female disconnects are the standard separable connection in HVAC equipment, landing at contactor coils and line terminals, capacitor studs, transformer taps, switches, and motor leads.
Tab width must match the mating terminal. The common .187 and .250 inch sizes look alike, and a mismatched pair makes loose contact that heats under load and degrades the terminal's spring temper progressively.
Applications include contactor, capacitor, transformer, switch, and motor connections in HVAC, refrigeration, and appliance work. Crimp with a ratcheting tool and confirm with a pull test.
