DiversiTech Wire Terminal Slip-On F 12-10 Insulated. .250

The DiversiTech 6251LX is an insulated slip-on female quick disconnect terminal for 12 to 10 gauge conductors, sized for a .250 inch tab.

The 12-10 gauge range places this terminal firmly in power circuit duty rather than control wiring. It suits compressor and condenser fan motor leads, electric heat circuits, contactor line terminals, and equipment power connections where a separable joint is wanted for serviceability. Under the standard colour convention, yellow identifies this range.

Because these connections carry real current, contact quality is more consequential than on a control circuit. A loose quick disconnect in a power circuit dissipates heat at the joint. That heat anneals the spring temper of the female terminal, contact pressure falls, resistance rises, and the connection accelerates toward failure. The characteristic result is a discoloured, melted, or welded terminal at a contactor, capacitor, or motor lead, and it is one of the more common findings in no cooling service calls.

Tab width must match the mating terminal for that reason. The .187 and .250 inch widths look similar and are regularly confused.

Crimp quality is equally decisive at these conductor sizes, which require a tool with substantial mechanical advantage. A crimp made with pliers will not achieve full compression.

Applications include motor and compressor leads, heater circuits, contactor terminations, and equipment power wiring in HVAC and refrigeration service.
