DiversiTech Wire Terminal Compressor. Flag F. 12-8 Non-Insulated

The DiversiTech 6270LX is a non-insulated compressor flag female quick disconnect terminal for 12 to 8 gauge conductors, sized for the power connections on larger compressors.

The 12 to 8 gauge range covers compressor circuits with substantial running current, typical of larger residential systems, light commercial condensing units, and refrigeration compressors. At 8 gauge in particular, achieving a sound crimp requires a heavy duty compound leverage or hydraulic crimp tool; hand pliers and light duty crimpers cannot compress these barrels, and an undercompressed crimp on a high current compressor lead is a fire risk rather than merely a poor connection.

The flag configuration turns the conductor ninety degrees relative to the tab. Compressor terminal boxes are shallow and crowded, and with heavy gauge conductor the bend radius of the wire itself becomes a limiting factor. A straight disconnect frequently cannot be made up without forcing the conductor against the terminal plate or preventing the cover from seating; a flag terminal resolves both problems.

The uninsulated barrel is appropriate for the high temperature environment at the compressor shell and accepts high temperature heat shrink or boots.

Terminal integrity must be verified before energising, and a compressor must never be run with the terminal cover removed, since a failed fused terminal can eject under system pressure.

Applications include compressor power terminations in air conditioning, heat pump, and commercial refrigeration equipment.
