DiversiTech Terminal Ring 8 25-Pack 6257NX

The DiversiTech 6257NX is a ring terminal sized for 8 gauge conductors, supplied in a 25 piece pack for heavy power and grounding connections.

8 gauge conductor carries substantial current, and at this size the consequences of a poor termination change in character. A high resistance joint on a control circuit produces a nuisance fault; the same joint on an 8 gauge power conductor dissipates enough heat to discolour terminals, degrade insulation, and damage the equipment around it. Termination quality is therefore the governing consideration.

The closed ring configuration is the correct choice at this gauge. It captures the conductor completely around the stud so the connection cannot release if the fastener loosens, which is both a code requirement for equipment grounding conductors and sound practice for any heavy power landing.

Typical applications at 8 gauge include larger condensing unit and compressor circuits, electric heat feeders, equipment disconnect landings, subpanel connections, and equipment grounding conductors on higher current equipment.

Crimping 8 gauge requires a proper heavy duty crimp tool, either a long handled compound leverage tool or a hydraulic crimper with the correct die. Hand pliers and light duty crimpers cannot generate the compression these barrels need, and an undercompressed crimp on a heavy conductor is a genuine hazard rather than merely a poor connection.

Match the terminal to both conductor size and stud diameter, torque the fastener to specification, and verify the crimp before energising.
