DiversiTech Terminal Male 16-14 6234LX

The DiversiTech 6234LX is an insulated male quick disconnect terminal for 16 to 14 gauge conductors, presenting a tab that mates with a female disconnect.

Male terminals are used wherever the opposing half of a separable connection carries a female disconnect. That situation arises when installing a replacement component supplied with female leads, extending or repairing a harness while preserving the original connection scheme, or deliberately building a serviceable joint into field wiring so a device can be changed later without cutting conductors.

The insulating sleeve covers the crimp barrel and a portion of the conductor jacket, which reduces the risk of an accidental short in a crowded equipment cabinet and gives limited strain relief at the crimp. Blue identifies the 16-14 gauge range under the standard colour convention.

The 16-14 range covers control circuits, fan and blower leads, capacitor connections, and light power wiring.

Tab width is the fitment detail most often gotten wrong. The standard .187 and .250 inch widths look similar enough that mismatches happen regularly, and a mismatched pair makes loose contact. Under load that looseness generates heat, the heat anneals the female terminal's spring temper, contact pressure drops further, and the connection deteriorates toward failure.

Use a ratcheting crimp tool with the correct insulated die and confirm each crimp with a pull test. Applications span HVAC, refrigeration, appliance, and general electrical service wiring.
