DiversiTech Terminal Female 6251CX

The DiversiTech 6251CX is a non-insulated female quick disconnect terminal, supplying a bare crimp barrel and formed contact for separable push-on connections.

Uninsulated terminals are chosen deliberately rather than as a lower cost substitute. Nylon and vinyl insulating sleeves harden, crack, and shrink at elevated temperature, so bare terminals are the appropriate selection at furnace heat exchangers, electric heat sections, compressor terminal boxes, and locations adjacent to hot discharge lines. The bare barrel also accepts heat shrink tubing, allowing insulation rated for the specific temperature and chemical environment to be applied at installation. In confined terminal boxes, the smaller profile of an uninsulated terminal can be what allows the connection to fit at all.

The trade-off is exposure. The crimp barrel and any protruding conductor strands are live under power, so routing, clearance from grounded metal, and applied insulation require deliberate attention.

Female disconnects mate with male tabs at contactors, capacitors, transformers, switches, and motor leads, allowing components to be replaced without cutting conductors.

Tab width must match the mating terminal. The common .187 and .250 inch widths are visually similar, and a mismatched pair makes loose contact that heats under load and degrades progressively.

Crimp with a tool matched to non-insulated terminals; insulated and non-insulated dies are not interchangeable. Applications include HVAC, refrigeration, heater, and appliance service work.
