DiversiTech Contactor 90 Amp 2 TMX390C2

The DiversiTech TMX390C2 is a three pole contactor rated 90 amps with a 208/240 volt coil, the largest capacity in the TMX series.

At 90 amps this contactor switches very substantial three phase loads on commercial and industrial equipment. The line voltage coil indicates a control circuit operating at supply voltage rather than through a step-down transformer, an arrangement found on commercial refrigeration plant and on equipment controlled by line voltage pressure or temperature controls.

Equipment at this rating warrants a different maintenance approach from smaller machinery. The load being switched represents significant connected power, the conductors are large and stiff, terminations require specified torque, and the consequences of a failure extend beyond the repair itself to whatever the equipment supports.

Planned inspection is the sensible approach: contact faces examined for pitting and material transfer, voltage drop measured across each closed pole under load, current balance recorded across the three phases, and terminations checked for discolouration and correct torque. Each of these identifies deterioration well before failure, and on plant of this size that warning is worth having.

Arc flash assessment and appropriate procedure apply to work on energised equipment at this scale. De-energise and verify absence of voltage before working.

Applications include large commercial and industrial refrigeration, chillers, air handlers, and process cooling equipment.
