DiversiTech Contactor 3P 50A 24V TMX350A2

The DiversiTech TMX350A2 is a three pole contactor rated 50 amps with a 24 volt coil.

At 50 amps in three poles this contactor serves substantial commercial equipment, and at this rating the branch circuit protection upstream becomes a relevant consideration during troubleshooting.

A contactor that has failed with welded contacts, burned terminals, or evidence of severe arcing did so because it carried current beyond what it could handle. That current came from somewhere, and the branch circuit protection either operated or did not. Where a contactor has been destroyed but the fuses or breaker remain intact, the fault current was within the protection's rating but beyond the contactor's, which points at either an undersized contactor or a sustained overload rather than a short circuit.

Where the protection did operate, the fault was more severe, and the equipment should be examined for a shorted compressor winding or a ground fault before anything is re-energised.

Reading the evidence a failed component leaves is frequently more informative than any test performed afterwards, and it is worth doing before the old part is discarded.
