DiversiTech Contactor 30 Amp 2 TMX330C2

The DiversiTech TMX330C2 is a three pole contactor rated 30 amps with a 208/240 volt coil.

Contactors do not exist in isolation, and when one fails the associated components deserve examination.

On a condensing unit, the run capacitor sits alongside the contactor in the same circuit. A weak or failed run capacitor causes the compressor to draw elevated current, which the contactor must carry and switch, accelerating contact wear. Replacing a contactor without checking the capacitor addresses the symptom while leaving the cause.

Similarly, the condenser fan motor's condition affects head pressure, and elevated head pressure raises compressor current. A failing fan motor therefore contributes to contactor wear as well as to compressor stress.

The wiring between them is the third element. Poor terminations at the contactor, the capacitor, or the compressor all produce heat and voltage drop, and the effects compound.

A contactor failure is best treated as a prompt to examine the whole starting and running circuit rather than as an isolated component replacement. Where a contactor has failed prematurely, something in that circuit usually explains why.

At 30 amps in three poles this suits three phase commercial equipment with line voltage control. Applications include commercial air conditioning and refrigeration.
