DiversiTech Contactor 2P 30A 24V TMX230A2

The DiversiTech TMX230A2 is a two pole contactor rated 30 amps with a 24 volt coil.

Two pole contactors switch both legs of a single phase supply, so that with the contactor open the load is fully isolated from the supply. This is preferable to a single pole arrangement on safety grounds, and it is why two pole contactors are specified where isolation matters and why some jurisdictions and manufacturers require them.

It does not remove the need for proper isolation procedure. A two pole contactor still leaves the line side of the contactor energised, and the equipment's control circuit may be fed from elsewhere. Opening the disconnect and verifying absence of voltage remains the only sound practice.

Where a single pole contactor is being replaced, substituting a two pole unit is generally straightforward and represents an improvement, provided the physical dimensions and mounting suit and the second pole is wired correctly rather than left unused.

At 30 amps with a 24 volt coil this is a standard size for residential and light commercial condensing units, matching the majority of typical residential air conditioning loads.
