DiversiTech Contactor 2P 30A 208/240V TMX230C2

The DiversiTech TMX230C2 is a two pole contactor rated 30 amps with a 208/240 volt coil.

Equipment using a line voltage coil at 208/240 volts typically has no control transformer, and the control circuit is switched by a line voltage thermostat, a pressure control, or a temperature control. Commercial refrigeration equipment, walk-in coolers and freezers, and older packaged equipment commonly work this way.

One practical consequence concerns safety devices. In a 24 volt system, low and high pressure switches, condensate switches, and similar protections are wired in the low voltage control circuit, where they interrupt milliamps. In a line voltage system, those same devices carry the coil current at full supply voltage, which means they must be rated for it. Fitting a control intended for 24 volt service into a line voltage circuit will destroy it, often on the first operation, and may weld its contacts closed, which defeats the protection entirely.

Checking the voltage rating of every device in a control circuit before fitting it is therefore essential in line voltage systems.

At 30 amps in two poles this suits compressor and motor loads in commercial refrigeration and light commercial air conditioning.
