DiversiTech Concentric Vent Kit Horizontal Termination

The DiversiTech HVENT-2 is a 2 inch concentric vent kit configured for horizontal sidewall termination on direct vent condensing appliances.

Horizontal sidewall venting is the usual arrangement when a condensing appliance replaces an atmospherically vented one, because it avoids running new vent piping up an existing chimney chase or through the roof. The appliance's sealed combustion design permits it, since the vent is under positive pressure from the induced draft blower and does not depend on natural draft.

The concentric termination carries the exhaust within the intake, so a single wall penetration serves both. This is what makes sidewall venting practical from an appearance and weathersealing standpoint, and it fixes the relationship between intake and exhaust so that flue products cannot be drawn into the combustion air.

Sidewall terminations carry specific clearance requirements that are frequently the constraining factor in siting the appliance. Minimum heights above grade and above the anticipated snow line, and minimum distances from windows, doors, mechanical air intakes, soffits, gas meters and regulators, and property lines are set by both the appliance instructions and the applicable code. These should be checked before the appliance location is fixed, not after.

Condensate and vapour plume behaviour at the termination also warrant consideration relative to walkways, driveways, and adjacent surfaces.

Applications include residential and light commercial condensing furnaces, boilers, and tankless water heaters.
