DiversiTech 2" Concentric Vent CVENT-2

The DiversiTech CVENT-2 is a 2 inch concentric vent kit for direct vent condensing appliances, combining intake and exhaust in a single roof or wall penetration.

Condensing furnaces, boilers, and water heaters are sealed combustion appliances requiring two pipes: one drawing combustion air from outdoors and one discharging flue products. Run separately, that means two penetrations, two terminations, and a set of clearance requirements governing the separation between them, their height above grade or roof, and their distance from windows, doors, soffits, and property lines.

A concentric vent resolves this by carrying the exhaust within an outer pipe that carries the intake, so the two share a single penetration and a single termination assembly. The advantages are practical: one hole rather than two, one flashing and sealing detail, a considerably tidier appearance, and a termination whose intake and exhaust relationship is fixed by the manufacturer rather than by field measurement.

That fixed relationship also removes a common source of installation error. Separately terminated pipes placed too close together, or with the intake downwind of the exhaust, allow flue products to be drawn back into the combustion air, which degrades combustion and can cause nuisance lockouts.

The 2 inch size suits smaller condensing appliances within the manufacturer's permitted vent length.
