DiversiTech 3" Concentric Vent CVENT-3

The DiversiTech CVENT-3 is a 3 inch concentric vent kit for direct vent condensing appliances, combining combustion air intake and flue exhaust in a single penetration.

Three inch venting is the more common size on residential condensing furnaces and larger condensing boilers and water heaters, particularly where the appliance input or the total equivalent vent length requires more than a 2 inch system provides. Vent size is determined by the appliance manufacturer's tables, which relate input, total pipe length, and the number of elbows to a permitted diameter. Undersizing produces pressure switch lockouts; the manufacturer's tables, not the appliance outlet size alone, govern the selection.

The concentric arrangement carries the exhaust within the intake pipe so both share one penetration and one termination. Beyond the obvious benefit of a single hole and a single sealing detail, this fixes the geometric relationship between intake and exhaust at the factory. Separately terminated pipes that are placed too close, or oriented so the intake sits downwind of the exhaust, recirculate flue products into the combustion air, degrading combustion and causing intermittent faults that are difficult to diagnose.

Termination clearances to grade, snow line, windows, doors, soffits, and property lines still apply and are set by both the appliance instructions and the applicable code.
