Description
The CRC03180 is a chlorinated-base degreaser in a 20 oz aerosol with a 19 oz net fill, supplied 1 each with 12 per case. It is a clear liquid with a very fast evaporation rate, a specific gravity of 1.62, and a dielectric strength of 37,500 V.
The dielectric strength figure is the whole reason to specify this product. A dielectric strength of 37,500 V means the fluid does not conduct electricity, which is what permits cleaning of electrical equipment. That is a genuine capability with a hard operational limit attached: dielectric strength governs the fluid's behaviour, not the safety of the procedure. De-energise and lock out equipment before cleaning it regardless of this rating. The specification exists so that residual fluid does not cause a fault when power is restored — not so that live equipment can be sprayed.
Chlorinated chemistry provides the non-flammability and solvent strength that make this cleaning class possible, and the very fast evaporation leaves no residue on windings, contacts, or terminals.
The hot work restriction applies without exception. Chlorinated solvent vapour decomposes into phosgene, a highly toxic gas, under the UV and heat of a welding arc or cutting torch. Parts must be fully dry and vapour cleared before any hot work.
Applications include motors, generators, switchgear, controls, relays, contacts, and electrical assemblies in manufacturing and plant maintenance.
