BASO Safety Valve 1/4" H17BB-1C

The BASO H17BB-1C is a 1/4 inch magnetic gas safety valve for standing pilot appliances.

The 1/4 inch size indicates a small connection appropriate to pilot gas lines and small appliance applications rather than main burner supply.

Safety valves of this type are common on commercial cooking equipment, where a standing pilot arrangement remains widespread. The reasons are practical: commercial ranges, fryers, and griddles operate continuously through a service period, the equipment is often older and simpler than domestic appliances, and a standing pilot system requires no electrical supply at all, which simplifies installation in a kitchen.

The safety function is nonetheless essential. Without it, a pilot extinguished by a draught, a spill, or a gas supply interruption would leave gas flowing into the kitchen when supply was restored.

Service considerations are straightforward but important. The pilot burner must be clean and correctly positioned so the flame properly envelops the thermocouple tip. The thermocouple connection at the valve must be clean and tight, but not overtightened, since the connection carries millivolts and a damaged contact surface is a common cause of intermittent dropout.

Applications include commercial cooking equipment, food service appliances, boilers, and standing pilot gas equipment.
