Product Highlights
Description
The Williams SNPSDP-2-8 is a screwdriver, Phillips #2 tip, 8 inch shank, 12 inch overall length, alloy steel, high-polish chrome blade with vapor-blasted tip, premium comfort grip handle, no bolster.
Note the bolster field reads No, and that is worth explaining rather than passing over — it is a real specification with a real consequence.
A bolster is a square section of steel at the base of the blade where it meets the handle. Its purpose is to accept a wrench. On a seized fastener, a screwdriver with a bolster can be turned with a wrench while downward pressure is maintained by hand, which is the only way to break some screws loose without destroying the head.
No bolster means that option does not exist. Anyone who tries it anyway will damage the handle.
That is not a defect — most screwdrivers have no bolster and most jobs do not need one. It is a specification a customer should see before choosing.
The vapor-blasted tip is the good detail here. Chrome is slippery, which is right on the blade and wrong at the tip: a polished Phillips tip cams out of the recess under torque, and camming out is what rounds screw heads. Vapor blasting leaves a fine matte texture that bites.
At 8 inches of shank this is a long driver — reach at the cost of control.
