APEX CRECTK180 Mechanics Tool Set 1/4 Inch 3/8 Inch Drive Alloy Steel Teardrop

The CRECTK180 is a mechanics tool set covering 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch drive, in both 6-point and 12-point, finished in full polish chrome. Construction is alloy steel, with standard and deep length sockets, a standard ratchet handle in a teardrop head style, and a 72 tooth count.

The 72-tooth ratchet mechanism is the specification that determines whether this set is usable in real work. Tooth count sets the arc a ratchet must swing before it engages the next tooth — 72 teeth means a five degree swing. In open space that is irrelevant. Against a firewall, inside a machine frame, or behind a bracket, the difference between a five degree arc and a fifteen degree arc decides whether the fastener can be turned at all.

The teardrop head is the corresponding design choice: a compact profile that fits into the same confined positions the fine-tooth mechanism is there to serve.

Carrying both 6-point and 12-point coverage is a deliberate hedge. 6-point grips a fastener on its flats and is the correct choice for tight or corroded hardware; 12-point engages at twice as many positions and finds a fastener where swing is limited. A set with both lets the technician choose rather than compromise.

Standard and deep sockets cover flush fasteners and studded ones respectively.

Applications include automotive and fleet service, equipment maintenance, mechanical assembly, and general repair.

Users include mechanics, maintenance technicians, and millwrights.
