The Empire EPLE280 is a heavy duty True Blue combination square in a 16 inch size, with a high visibility chemical etched stainless steel blade and a dual pitch vial to check slope. Supplied 1 per pack.

Two specifications here separate this from a standard combination square. The first is the blade: chemical etched rather than printed or stamped. Printed graduations wear off a blade that is dragged across steel and timber all day, and a square whose markings have gone is a straightedge. Chemical etching cuts the graduations into the surface, so they survive. Stainless steel adds corrosion resistance, which matters for a tool that gets handled with wet or oily hands.

The second is the dual pitch vial. A standard combination square carries a plain level vial that tells you when something is level. A dual pitch vial reads slope — it lets the user check a deliberate fall rather than only a horizontal. That is a specific and valuable capability in trades where nothing is meant to be level: drainage and waste pipe runs, condensate lines, gutters, and duct falls all require a controlled slope, and getting it wrong means water sits where it should run.
