Empire EPL500M.24 Level Magnetic IBeam Level

The Empire EPL500M.24 is a magnetic I-beam level in a 2 foot size, supplied 1 per box. It replaces 581-24 and EM5524.

The I-beam profile is the specification and it is a structural one. A level's accuracy depends entirely on its frame staying straight — a bent or twisted level is not slightly wrong, it is confidently wrong, which is worse. An I-beam cross-section resists bending and twisting in both axes for its weight, which is why it is the profile used for structural beams and the same reason it is used here.

The magnetic edge is what makes this level a working tool for anyone dealing with steel. Levelling a steel stud, a duct run, a conduit, a beam, or a piece of equipment normally requires one hand to hold the level and one to read it, leaving none for the work. A magnetic level stays where it is placed and frees both hands. On overhead work, that is the difference between a two-person job and a one-person job.

At 2 feet this is the general-purpose length — long enough to span and average out surface irregularity, short enough to fit between studs and inside frames.
